Budget process requires key input from
residents in our community One of the most important
steps in the 2007 Budget process is taking place in our community next week.
On Feb. 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. the four west-end Councillors
are hosting a City of Ottawa 2007 Budget Public Meeting in the Cafetorium of
Holy Trinity Catholic High School, at Holy Trinity Catholic High School, 180
Katimavik Rd. Ward 4 Kanata North Councillor Marianne Wilkinson, Ward 23 Kanata
South Councillor Peggy Feltmate, Ward 5 West Carleton-March Councillor Eli El-Chantiry,
City staff and I will be on hand to answer any specific questions you may have.
It is crucial to use this opportunity to get involved and have
a say on how your hard-earned tax dollars are spent. I will be supporting Mayor
O’Brien in his goal of achieving a zero per cent tax increase and I look forward
to hearing your suggestions on how we can provide this for all Ottawa residents.
ToR Comments
I want to thank
everyone who attended the public meeting regarding Waste Management’s proposed
expansion of their Carp Road landfill on Feb. 6. It was great to see all of you
come out and learn more about this important issue. I want to remind all of you
that all comments must be in to the Ministry of Environment by Feb. 12, 2007. If
you require any assistance or have any questions please feel free to contact my
office or visit
www.nodump.ca.
Although the public comment period on Waste Management’s Terms of
Reference is coming to a close soon, we must continue to join forces in
opposition to their proposal. Regardless of the timelines set by the Ministry of
Environment, the Coalition, the five west-end Councillors and the Mayor will
continue to work together to find a long-term sustainable plan for dealing with
Ottawa’s solid waste. I encourage residents of
Stittsville-Kanata West to lend your time and expertise to the Coalition who
work tirelessly to make a difference in our community. To volunteer or for more
information on how you can get involved email
