Family Day Schedule Changes

Ottawa -The City of Ottawa would like to remind its residents of the following schedule changes for Family Day (Monday, February 18).

  • Ottawa City Hall and all six Client Service Centres, including the Government Service Centres located at 110 Laurier Avenue West and 580 Terry Fox Drive, will be closed on Family Day. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, February 19.
  • The City’s Provincial Offences Court, located at 100 Constellation Crescent, will also be closed on Family Day. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, February 19.
  • There will be no curbside garbage, recycling pickup or multi-residential container collection on Monday, February 18 for Family Day. Pickup will take place on Tuesday, February 19. In addition, the collection schedule will be delayed by one day for the entire week of February 18.
  • OC Transpo will operate a revised weekday schedule on February 18 with minor reductions. Special school trips will not operate.   • OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres will be open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Family Day, with the exception of the Rideau Centre office that will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The OC Transpo Information Centre (613-741-4390) will operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Family Day, while the Customer Service Centre (613-842-3600) will be open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Recreation facilities will be maintaining regular schedules and programming on Monday, February 18. Instructional programs will run on their normal schedule for the day and additional swimming and skating sessions may be offered where feasible to accommodate the Family Day holiday. Please check with the facility of your choice for details. Therapeutic Recreation Day Programs, namely, Acquired Brain Injury Program, Support Community Enhanced Learning, Variety West and Rendez-Vous programs will be cancelled. City operated Child Care Centres will be closed on Family Day.
  • All branches of the Ottawa Public Library are closed and there will be no bookmobile service on Family Day. Regular branch hours and bookmobile service will resume Tuesday, February 19. Although municipal offices are closed on Monday, February 18, should an urgent matter develop which requires the City's immediate attention, client service representatives are available by calling 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401). Family Day is a new public holiday announced by Premier Dalton McGuinty following the provincial election last October. Family Day will be recognized on the third Monday of February each year.
