HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A New Year for Stittsville-Kanata West
A New Year is upon us and with it brings many changes and
an opportunity to reflect.
Last week my staff and I spent several hours driving and
walking through the community to look at some areas in need of attention,
follow-up on residents’ concerns and view the progress in residential
developments such as Jackson Trails and Mattamy Homes.
As I drove down Main Street I could not help but think
about how this artery that runs down the centre of our community is a very
strong symbol of transition. To start at the south end of Main Street one will
find our rich rural roots, which have maintained their unique character over the
years. Travelling north you will find quaint shops and beautiful old homes
leading into our booming business area featuring the Shops of Main Street and
many other places that help keep our community vibrant and connected.
The main theme down Main Street is clear to me. On every
street corner the input of dedicated volunteers can be seen in the unique
designs of commercial and residential developments and the beautiful features
that make our community so warm and welcoming.
In the future Main Street will serve as the important
connection between Stittsville and Kanata West. Living in a community
experiencing such massive growth does not come without its’ challenges but it
also provides us with great opportunities.
Over the next few years we will be welcoming several new
neighbours to Ward 6 and I know we will all join forces to maintain the strong
and healthy community of Stittsville.
Over the past 13 years I have taken great pride in
watching this community prosper and look forward to continue my involvement as
your Councillor. I feel incredibly privileged to have the opportunity and vow to
bring your issues and concerns to the table. My door is always open and I am
interested in hearing from all of you on how we can continue to improve our
community.
Family plays a huge role in our lives and I encourage you
to surround yourself with loved ones not only during the holiday season but year
round.
Theresa, our family and I would like to wish you all a
safe, healthy and happy 2007and
look forward to working with all of you.

My new website is all ready to go and I hope you can take

meetings going on in our community. I would like to offer my thanks and
gratitude to the talented designer Gisele Andrews for all of her hard work to
get us online. Please visit www.shadqadri.com
