SVA
organizes successful Canada Day
Congratulations to the members of the
Stittsville Village Association (SVA) and its team of
volunteers for organizing the celebrations of Canada’s 143rd
birthday in Stittsville.
The event is geared for families, and it
was great to see so many young families, some familiar and
some new to our community, that came out and enjoyed a full
day of activities.
The community came out to celebrate in
huge numbers on such a gorgeous day. It was a wonderful
turnout as it is every year. The community really came out
and showed pride for their Nation. The fireworks, as per
usual, capped off a great day and were once again terrific
to watch.

Kicking off Canada Day in
style
Thank you to all of those who
participated in my annual Seniors’ Canada Day breakfast.
Once again, it was the perfect way to start Canada Day
celebrations in our community.
More than 250 local residents packed the
Stittsville fire hall to enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast
provided Dave Smith, who owned Nate’s Delicatessen. Dave and
his team make a special visit to Stittsville each year for
Canada Day and once again, provided residents with a
wonderful breakfast.
The Schmodkas, a local singing troupe
comprised of four talented ladies from right here in
Stittsville, returned to provide the entertainment. They
have done a wonderful job in the past and I wanted to bring
them back again.
A big thank you to our local volunteer
firefighters who not only opened their doors for the event,
but also generously assisted in ensuring the morning ran
smoothly. Their commitment and dedication to our community
is unparalleled. Also, MPP Norn Sterling and MP Gord
O'Connor were on hand once again for the festivities.
Thank you once again to all of those who
helped make this a great morning.
